SNAP CUSTOMER PAYMENT
When paying for groceries, the SNAP customer will swipe their EBT card at the POS authorized terminal and will enter a four-digit PIN. The cashier will then enter the dollar amount of the food purchase on the POS, in which that dollar amount will be deducted from the household’s EBT SNAP account and credited to the processing account.
All transactions are electronically processed and recorded. The US Department of Agriculture has access to all records of all transactions including the date, time, and dollar amount on all terminals.
Your location must be processing credit and debit cards on the First Data network.
POS SYSTEMS
The following POS systems can accept EBT:
- Verifone Commander/RubyCi
- Gilbarco Passport
- Radiant
- Comdata Smart Desk
- FD150
A standalone terminal is required for all other POS systems. Terminal rental options are available.
