Clark Crown Gift Card Basics

Cards are not preloaded with value—they must be activated at the time of purchase.

Maximum card value is $250.

Cards can be used inside at the register or outside at the dispenser.

Transactions are settled with your daily credit card batch.

Cannot be used for lottery, money orders, other gift cards, or to pay house accounts or fleet cards.
Getting Started
1. Set Up POS Department Keys

Follow the instructions to enable your POS to create and accept gift cards.

Information for Your Staff

Cards must be activated by the cashier—they carry no value otherwise.

Each load or reload appears as a separate line item.

No fees are charged to consumers for using the gift card.

Cards can be reloaded by the customer at any time.
Store Policies

All Clark and Crown branded stores are required to accept and promote the Clark Crown Gift Card.

Do not allow the purchase of gift cards using another gift card.

Treat activated gift cards like cash—do not pre-activate.

Manual entry is only allowed during a card-present transaction and must include the 4-digit CVD PIN.

Note: Ruby Supersystem, Ruby Sapphire, and FD130 terminals do not allow manual entry.

Fraud Prevention Best Practices

Be alert to large or bulk purchases of gift cards, especially near the $250 limit.

Ask for ID when gift cards are purchased with a credit card.

Maintain inventory control—track cards like you would any other product.

Match register reports to terminal reports to verify gift card sales.

Use POS passwords and limit activation privileges to managers.
Lost or Abused Cards

Lost or stolen gift cards will not be replaced.

Failure to provide receipts or journal tapes within 10 days of a Clark Brands request may result in removal from the gift card network.

Abuse or misuse of the program—by staff or customers—may result in termination of access to the gift card system.

Web Portal Reporting
You may request scheduled reports for gift card transactions. Two report types are available:
1. Gift Card Summary Report

Shows total daily sales, broken down by transaction type.

2. Gift Card Detail Report

Lists every transaction, organized by card number.

Tender/Redeem = Indoor purchase

CAT Confirmation = Outdoor purchase
