CAPK File Download – Instructions to Update Public Keys
Purpose:
To update the EMV Public Keys (CAPK) on the POS system and ensure EMV capabilities are active.
Step 1 – Download the CAPK File
- Navigate to the POS Menu → CSR Function - Main Menu.
- Select #2 – Network Menu.
- Select #3 – EPS Network Functions.
- Select #15 – Perform EMV CA PUBLIC Key FI.
- The screen should show “Downloading…”
Once the download is complete, the EPS will send the updated configuration to connect to the PIN pads, enabling EMV capabilities.
Once the download is completed, check to see if the expired CAPK has been corrected. If the CAPK has failed to update, reach out to your Verifone Certified tech for help.
Instructions to Verify the CAPK Tables
- From CSR function on the POS
- Go to #5 Configuration Manager
- Log in as Manager and enter password.

Check CAPK Index to confirm :
- Keys are populated.
- There are no expired CAPK dates.
Check end dates. If there is a Cap K date expired, update your Public Key by following the instructions above or call your technician.
